RESERVATIONS

Q: Just wondering if I could book a ferry from Nassau at short notice or do I have to make reservations? 

A: We advise all of our customers to process their bookings at least two days in advance. Providing that space is available on the day of travel, we suggest that passengers check-in at least one hour prior to sailing.

 

Q: I want to book a ticket ferry from Nassau to Pink Sands Beach and return. Do I need to buy tickets in advance or can I buy them when I arrive in Nassau?  If I need to buy in advance, can this be done by email or credit card over the phone?

A: We advise that bookings are made at least two days in advance. Should you purchase tickets on the day of travel we advise that you check-in no later than one hour prior to sailing.

Yes, tickets can be purchased online (click here) via credit card. However, the credit card being used must be submitted along with a valid ID at the time of check-in. The booking may also be processed over the phone at 242-323-2166. The Ticketing Agent will also require that you provide the credit card used to process your booking along with a valid ID.

 

Q: I would like to know if I can reserve two first class tickets on the ferry?

A: At the time of tickets being purchased there is an option to upgrade to “Voyager” or First Class. This option is only available when sailing via Bo Hengy II.

 

Q: Is luggage free on the ferry? If not, what is the cost? Are there restrictions?

A:

  • Each paying passenger is allowed two free checked pieces.  (Size and weight – up to 60 pounds – restrictions apply) Passenger extra luggage begins at $8 per piece.
  • These items are limited to items such as luggage, boxes or small coolers up to 48 quartz. These items must be properly packed.
  • Anything over the two pieces will incur additional fees.
  • Any meat item not properly packaged will not be accepted.
  • All coolers over 48 quartz is considered oversize and must be shipped as freight.
  • Bicycles, Surfboards and Windsurfers, are considered as oversized baggage.
  • Televisions, AC Units and construction material are some of the items considered as freight.
  • Each passenger is allowed one small carry on.  The carry on must be able to fit comfortably under your seat.

 

Q: What happens if I lost my ticket?

A: Passengers who misplace their tickets are required to purchase a new one for travel. Should the ticket be located a refund will be granted on the misplaced ticket. All tickets are valid for travel for one year from the date of purchase.

 

Q: What is the policy for changing or cancelling a reservation?

A: Ticket may be changed with no penalty if done prior to the date of travel. Should the date of travel pass, there will be a penalty to reissue the ticket. The reissue fee is $15.

 

HARBOUR ISLAND DAY-AWAY EXCURSION

Q: Could I book the tour in your office at Potter’s Cay when I arrive to The Bahamas?

A: This tour is booked on a first come first served basis. Should there be availability on the morning of travel we will be more than happy to book you for travel. Advance booking is recommended to ensure availability.

 

Q: I’m interested in doing a tour to Harbour Island. Do you have a tour going there? What is the departing time from Nassau and then what time are you going back to Nassau from Harbour Island? What price is it?

A: We offer a day-away tour to Harbour Island on Monday and Wednesday through Saturday. The vessel begins boarding at 7:00 a.m. for 8:00 a.m. departure. Boarding in Harbour Island begins at 3:00 p.m. for 3:40 p.m. departure for Nassau. The cost is $225 per adult and $154 per child (2 – 11 years) which includes taxes.
Q: What all is included in the get-away to Harbour Island?

A: The Harbour Island Day-Away includes bus transportation at designated hotels for international visitors, roundtrip transportation on Bo Hengy II, a golf cart guided tour with all day use for a minimum of two passengers, a $20 lunch voucher at pre-determined restaurants and beach access.

 

Q: What is the Harbour Island Day-Away?

A:  The Harbour Island Day-Away is a one day trip and tour of historical and interesting sites of Harbour Island on our medium-speed ferry. Guests are provided with preferred amenities such as a golf cart guided tour by a Day-Away Coordinator, all day use of the golf cart, lunch and beach access.

 

Q: I am very interested on the Harbour Island or Andros one day tours provided by your company. I want to ask if it is includes the hotel pick-up and drop-off service? The hotel I will stay is in the Cable Beach area.

A: The day-away tour to Harbour Island includes bus transportation from the hotels on Cable Beach. Unfortunately, we do not offer a day-away tour to Andros for less than fifty passengers.

 

Q: Do you travel to the Pink Sand Beaches?

A: Yes, we sail to Harbour Island on a daily basis, home of the world famous pink sand beach.

 

Q: Will you please provide me with information and pricing for the packages available to Harbour Island, Spanish Wells and Andros?

A: We offer a day-away to Harbour Island only. The Harbour Island Day-Away is a one day trip and tour of historical and interesting sites of Harbour Island on our medium-speed ferry. Guests are provided with preferred amenities such as a golf cart guided tour by a Day-Away Coordinator, all day use of the golf cart, lunch and beach access. The day-away tour to Harbour Island is offered on Monday and Wednesday through Saturday. The vessel begins boarding at 7:00 a.m. for 8:00 a.m. departure. Boarding in Harbour Island begins at 3:00 p.m. for 3:40 p.m. departure for Nassau. The cost is $225 per adult and $154 per child (2 – 11 years) which includes taxes. We provide group packages for the day-away into Andros. Currently, we do not have a day-away into Spanish Wells.
Q: Could you offer us a package with ferry and hotel? 

A:  Unfortunately, we do not offer hotel packages.

Q: Can you please provide me with a schedule of your services along with the prices?

Q: Can you please let me know if you have your summer schedule?

A: The Summer Schedule is dated June through September and is usually available at the end of the Easter Schedule.

 

Q: Do you have a winter schedule?

A: Yes, The Winter Schedule is dated January through April and is usually available at the end of the Fall Schedule.  

 

Q: Does your schedule change for the holidays?

A: Yes, there is a Schedule issued for each Holiday.

 

ABACO

Q: How do I get from Freeport to Treasure Cay? 

A: We offer a freight service with limited vehicle and passenger capacity into Abaco from Freeport twice a week. Click here for details.  

 

 

Q: How much does it cost to go from Nassau to Marsh Harbour? How long does it take?

A: We do not sail directly from Nassau into Marsh Harbour. Our ferry service sails into South Abaco which is a 45 minutes drive into Marsh Harbour. The price is $130 per adult and $91 per child (2 – 11 years) roundtrip, and $71 per adult and $48 per child (2 – 11 years) one-way. Our ferry takes 4 hours on the Friday and Sunday service and 6 hours on the freight vessel service.

 

ANDROS

Q: Do you provide service to Congo Town or Driggs Hill on South?

A:  We do not have a service into Congo Town or Driggs Hill. We sail to Driggs Hill, South Andros once a year for the annual homecoming in June.

 

 

ELEUTHERA

Q: If I wanted to travel via ferry from Spanish Wells to Nassau is there a ferry? How long would the trip take and how much is it?

A: There is a daily ferry from Spanish Wells by medium-speed ferry with the exception of Tuesday when there is a service by a freight vessel with passenger capacity. The trip from Spanish Wells into Nassau is an estimated 2 hours. The cost is $155 per adult and $108 per child (2 – 11 years) for the roundtrip travel, and $81 per adult and $57 per child (2 – 11 years) for one-way travel.

 

Q: I would ask if tomorrow there’s a ferry to Harbour Island?

A: There is a daily ferry to and from Harbour Island by medium-speed ferry with the exception of Tuesday when there is a service by a freight vessel with passenger capacity. The cost of the trip to and from Harbour Island is $155 per adult and $108 per child (2 – 11 years) for the round trip travel, and $81 per adult and $57 per child (2 – 11 years) for one-way travel.

 

Q: Could you please tell me if and when a ferry might travel between Eleuthera and Abaco?

A:   We do not offer a direct sailing between Eleuthera and Abaco. Sailings to both destinations originate from Nassau.

    

Q: I would like to know the timetables from Nassau to Harbour Island and return?   The ferry arrives near the Pink Sand Beach? Can I go to the Pink Sand Beach by walking?

A: There is a daily ferry to and from Harbour Island by medium-speed ferry with the exception of Tuesday when there is a service by a freight vessel with passenger capacity. The Vessel arrives at the Government Dock; however the beach is within 15 minutes walking distance.

 

Q: Is there a service to Harbour Island available after midday?

A: Unfortunately, there is only one sailing available which departs Nassau at 8:00 a.m.

 

Q: Can I charter a ferry for a party of six to Eleuthera?

A: Yes, we can provide a charter.

 

EXUMA

Q: What is the cost of your tickets to Exuma?

A: The cost of the round trip travel to George Town, Exuma is $130 per adult and $91 per child (2 – 11 years) roundtrip, and $71 per adult and $48 per child (2 – 11 years) one-way.

 

Q: Do you travel to the Island of the Swimming Pigs?

A: We do not sail to Big Major Cay, Exuma, home of the swimming pigs. We do sail from Nassau for George Town, Exuma on Monday and Wednesday. A ferry can take you from George Town to Big Major Cay.

 

Q: I was wondering what ferry to take and how much it would be if I wanted to go from my hotel in Nassau (hotel Malia) to the pig beach in Exuma.

A: We do not sail to Big Major Cay, Exuma, home of the swimming pigs. We do sail from Nassau for George Town, Exuma on Monday and Wednesday. A ferry can take you from George Town to Big Major Cay.

 

Q: Is there ferry service from Nassau to Great Exuma on Saturday?

A: Unfortunately, we do not provide a ferry service to Exuma on Saturday.

 

GRAND BAHAMA

Q: What are the prices and times from the Grand Bahama to the Exuma in Staniel Cay?

A: We do not provide a ferry service between Grand Bahama and Stanliel Cay.

 

Q: Is there a ferry that runs between Nassau area and Freeport area?  What is the cost?  

A: We offer a freight vessel with limited passenger capacity travel into Freeport, Grand Bahama departing Nassau on Monday and Wednesday. The cost is $130 per adult and $91 per child (2 – 11 years) roundtrip, and $71 per adult and $48 per child (2 – 11 years) for the one-way travel.
Q: Where in Nassau do you sail from and where to in Freeport?

A: Bahamas Ferries terminal is located on Potter’s Cay Dock which is between the Paradise Island Bridges. Bahamas Ferries is located at Freeport Ship Services in Freeport, Grand Bahama, located on Peel Street and the vessel departs from the main harbour which is located on Queen’s Highway.

 

Q: What is the schedule for your Freeport to Nassau ferry in January?

A: We depart Freeport, Grand Bahama on Tuesday and Thursday for Nassau.

 

Q: Do you travel from Freeport to Marsh Harbour?

A: We depart Freeport, Grand Bahama on Tuesday and Thursday for South Abaco. We do not sail directly to Marsh Harbour.

 

LONG ISLAND

Q: I would appreciate a schedule of the ferries to Long Island.  I need to know the hours of the ferries during the week and the weekend.  Also the return trips to Nassau.

A: We travel to Simms, Long Island departing Nassau on Monday. The vessel departs Simms, Long Island on Tuesday. The ferry departs from Nassau with a brief stop into George Town, Exuma before going to Simms, Long Island. It takes 14 hours to travel from Nassau to Simms, Long Island.

 

Q: How long does it take to get from Nassau to Long Island by ferry?

A: The sailing time into Simms, Long Island is an estimated 14 hours after a brief stop into George Town, Exuma.

 

Q: Are there any ferries that go from Long Island to Cat Island?

A: Unfortunately, we do not have a ferry service from Long Island to Cat Island.

 

Q: Would you please inform us if there is a connection by ferry from Long Island to George Town, Exuma?

A: We depart Simms, Long Island on Tuesday for George Town, Exuma.

 

FREIGHT

Q: Do you ship vehicles? How much are they?

A: Yes, we ship vehicles to all of our destinations (Abaco, Andros, Eleuthera, Exuma, Grand Bahama and Long Island). The size of the vehicle and the destination would determine the cost. Prices ranges begin at $212 for one-way travel up to $724 for the roundtrip travel.

 

Getting to Potter’s Cay Dock Terminal

Q: How do we get from Nassau airport to the dock?

A: Bahamas Ferries is located on the western end of Potter’s Cay Dock travelling east from the International Airport onto West Bay Street. The entrance to Potter’s Cay can be found after passing the inbound bridge to Paradise Island and before the disembarkation bridge from Paradise Island.

 

Q: How long does it take to get from Nassau airport to the terminal?

A: The drive from the Lynden Pindling Airport to the Bahamas Ferries Terminal at Potter’s Cay Dock is an estimated 45 minutes – 1 hour drive depending on traffic.

 

Ferry from Miami to Nassau or Freeport

Q: I’d like to know how much the tickets cost and also which port does the ferry boat leaves in Miami to Nassau?

A: We only offer services to the islands within The Bahamas which are Abaco, Andros, Eleuthera, Exuma, Grand Bahama and Long Island. Unfortunately, we do not offer a service to or from Miami.

 

Q: Can I catch a ferry from Miami to Freeport?

A: We only offer services to the islands within The Bahamas which are Abaco, Andros, Eleuthera, Exuma, Grand Bahama and Long Island. Unfortunately, we do not offer a service to or from Miami.

 

Q: Please can you tell me if there is a ferry that takes you to Atlantis Resort from Florida?

A: Unfortunately, we not provide a ferry service between Florida and Atlantis Resort.

 

ANIMALS/PETS

Q: Do you allow dogs on your ferries between islands and if so, what is the cost? Are there any restrictions?

A: Yes, we allow dogs to travel on all of its ferries on the outside deck. The dog must be in a kennel or on a leash. The cost for dogs begins at $10 and up depending on the size of the dog.

 

GROUP PACKAGES

Q: Do you offer group packages? If yes, where?

A:  Yes, we offer a group package for the Harbour Island Day-Away Excursion. There must be 15 or more travelling together. Advance booking of one week is required. The package is not available during black-out periods (holidays and regattas). Click here for details.
