Bahamas Ferries newest vessel, M/V Grand Master II was launched January 13, 2018. The 190’ Landing Craft built at St. John’s Shipyard, Palatka, Florida, will service George Town, Exuma. With the introduction of the Grand Master II, Bahamas Ferries will service George Town three times a week.
The launch of the Grand Master II marked another milestone for the company in its strategy to enhance marine transportation services to the Family Islands. The new state-of-the-art RoLL-on/Roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessel with greater cargo capacity will replace the existing vessel servicing George Town. Now, with the addition of the Grand Master II, the company’s freight operation is entirely Ro-Ro. Having full Ro-Ro service in all its destinations will improve efficiency with the simple and quick loading and offloading of freight thereby reducing the vessel’s time in each port.
To welcome the new vessel, company executives and staff, along with strategic partners and customers, celebrated in grand style onboard the Grand Master II. There was a brief ceremony and christening. The exciting evening was filled with great entertainment by Ira Store and the Spank Band, and Junkanoo Rush-out by Genesis Warhawks, good food and lots of prizes. The fun-filled event was hosted by Hope Shelly-Ann, Kiss 96.
